£32,548 - £43,684 plus market supplement for AMHP £2,700

Haringey Adult Social Services is committed to achieving the highest standards in care and safety so that residents can look after themselves and live more independent and fulfilling lives.

The Council has recently reviewed the structure of Mental Health Social Work and improved mental health social work roles and pay. We have nine vacancies across our early intervention, older peoples mental health, community rehabilitation and locality teams and are looking for qualified mental health social workers who are also AMHPs, though this is not essential for these positions, who are passionate about working with people who have complex mental health needs and enjoy working in the interface of the wards and in the community to ensure we deliver the very highest quality integrated health and social care.

The Council is committed to embedding a ‘strengths-based approach’ and delivering social care by implementing exciting new initiatives ‘locality-based models of care’ and in partnership supporting the Trust in their new ways of working using ‘Open Dialogue’, ‘Trauma informed practice’ and implementing the NHS ‘Community Mental Health Framework for Adults and Older Adults’.

About the Role

All mental health social workers are members of multi-disciplinary mental health teams based at St Ann’s Hospital and lead in applying the Care Act and social care agenda to safeguard people in Haringey who are offered services by mental health teams. As well as working as a care coordinator to support people who may be vulnerable and have complex care needs, all mental health social workers are experts in championing the Council and local community resources and provide expert advice and guidance to others in their team on these.

Your responsibilities will include taking part in team referral, duty, attending zoning meetings, Council forums, and liaising with Council services like Housing, Brokerage, Reablement, and other Trust teams, services, and inpatient wards to support people’s health and social care needs and discharge planning.

If you are a trained Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) this will be recognised in terms of your team commitments and you will be released to take part in the AMHP duty service rota and attend the AMHP forum.

You will be confident in all aspects of social care legislation and the community resources people can use or be referred to in Haringey. In addition, you will be able to give other team members advice to ensure the Care Act assessments and Care Programme Approach reports reflect integrated health and social care, are well written in plain English, and embrace a recovery and strengths-based approach.

You will also be a lead and confident accessing and using Council resources and systems including MOSAIC, Hari-NET, Community Connectors, and systems that support social workers learning and development in Haringey as well as other national professional development networks.

All Mental Health Social Workers must be willing to train as an AMHP and will be supported in this as part of their career development plan and appraisal.

Working in one of London’s liveliest and most culturally diverse boroughs, you will seek to maintain a strong partnership between London Borough of Haringey and Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust.

About You

You will be a qualified Mental Health Social Worker with previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and have a sound knowledge of legislation that underpins health and social care for service-users with mental health needs. You will have a confident approach to a range of health and social care records, processes and systems.

In return you will enjoy high quality supervision, access to training courses in the Trust and Local Authority and a chance to make a real difference to people in Haringey.
