Connected Communities - Programme Coordinator

Over several decades, many people have chosen to start their life in the UK in Haringey, with 45% of the population born abroad and over 1 in 20 arriving within the last two years. We are proud of our strong history of diversity and multi-culturalism, but recognise that migration is not without challenges.

Haringey Council is setting up an ambitious two-year programme, funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, to support new migrants to settle more quickly and successfully into the borough. A range of different interventions will work with individuals and families who are new to Haringey, giving them support and advice on housing, employment, childcare and parenting; and helping them to play a positive part in the wider community. The programme will also focus on building up English language skills and support networks.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to support the Programme Lead to shape and manage this programme. You will provide programme management support to a complex, cross-cutting programme, delivered both directly through council services and by community sector partners. You will need to be a strategic thinker, who can make links across different service areas to help build a cohesive, focussed programme. You will need to be able to adapt quickly - responding to new challenges with practical solutions. You will need to understand the complex issues facing new migrants –across housing, employment, parenthood and community networks - as they build their lives in Haringey.

You will be committed to delivering results through teamwork and collaboration. You will be skilled at building strong relationships, encouraging co-operation and acting as the link between multiple contacts, both within and outside of the Council. You will be comfortable providing advice and training and in developing information and guidance in accessible formats. You will be able to build up strong partnerships across a range of different frontline services, creating a cohesive team and work programme.

In this role, you will be located at the heart of the Council and will engage with political leadership, senior officers and our partners and stakeholders in the borough to develop an ambitious programme whose legacy continues beyond its lifetime.

Closing Date: 10th April 2018

This role is being offered on a 2 year fixed term contract.
