About the Service

The Community Safety & Enforcement service in Haringey is committed to reducing gang involvement and youth violence in the borough. We are changing the way offending is managed as we co-locate all our partner agencies and voluntary sector providers into a single cutting-edge multi-agency Offender Management Unit. This we believe will deliver a step-change in how we co-ordinate and deliver interventions to disrupt criminal activity and reduce re-offending.

About the role

This Gang Worker role is integral to the Offender Management Integrated Gangs Team. It is designed to have the overall responsibility for the case management of young people aged 11-25 years identified as at risk of gang involvement, reduce risky behaviour and the impact of their gang involvement while supporting them into education, training and employment.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with specialist knowledge of the needs of young people affected by gang activity and experience of undertaking street-based outreach work. You will be working towards developing sustainable relationships with young people from a diverse background, especially those disengaged from mainstream society and services. You will demonstrate an awareness of current issues relating to socially excluded young people, coordinate a range of appropriate interventions and have experience of offender management and youth participation. You will also be expected to have a good understanding of young people's development and the ability to devise and implement individual programmes and processes that enable the early identification, assessments and referrals.
