About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Scientist or Data Engineer to join the Data and Development team in Haringey Council’s Digital Services.
In this role, you will be able to help shape and define our newly emerging data science capability. You will apply appropriate and innovative analytical techniques to the Council’s data and other external data assets to create information which maximises the value that the Council achieves from data. By using different graphical and other visualisation methods, this information will be communicated to different target audiences to enhance strategy development, business decision-making and service delivery.
About you
You will preferably have a mathematical background in applied statistics at degree level or A-level. You will either be an experienced Data Scientist or a Data Engineer that has the aptitude to grow and develop into a fully fledged Data Scientist.
You will ideally be skilled in using appropriate data analytics and machine learning tools and languages e.g. SQL script and SQL server; ETL (e.g. Alteryx, Hadoop); DAX (Data Analytics Expressions); Power Query and R.
Additionally, you may be skilled in data visualisation techniques and Power BI (or Tableau/Qlik) for live reporting. Experience of Python (e.g. TensorFlow and Scikit) is also desirable.
You will be proficient in understanding and manipulating large scale and complex data sets.
As you will handle potentially sensitive data, you will be very familiar with ensuring compliance with data security and information handling procedures to meet data and privacy regulations.
You will have good communication skills, especially written, to produce information and reports that communicate complex data in easily understandable ways.
