The Service

The Environment and Neighbourhoods service in Haringey is committed to delivering on the borough plan to keep our streets and public spaces litter free by dealing quickly with incidents of fly-tipping and rubbish dumping. For this reason, we have created a new Support Officer – Litter & Waste Enforcement team role to work alongside our Litter & Waste Enforcement Officers.

 

About the role

The Support Officer – Litter & Waste Enforcement team role is designed to provide administrative and IT support to the Litter & Waste Enforcement team who are responsible for issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for littering, dog fouling and fly-tipping offences. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that documents and the collection of fees/fines relating to FPNs are processed in a timely manner and that every effort is made to ensure that the Council maximizes income.

 

Furthermore, the role is also designed to engage with members of the public by telephone and in writing and deal with enquiries and complaints regarding the issuing of FPNs. You will also be responsible for ensuring that any appeal received in respect of an FPN is investigated and responded to in writing. 

 

About you

Do you have the drive and interpersonal skills to work as part of our new enforcement team providing comprehensive support to the Litter and Waste Enforcement Officers? Are you an enthusiastic person who would welcome the challenge of being part of a new team?

  • We are looking for someone with experience of providing administrative and IT support in a regulated environment.
  • You will need to be self-motivated, have a calm and assertive manner and the ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with people from all backgrounds.
  • You will need to deal effectively to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines, and able to work with minimum supervision and deal with competing demands and priorities.
