About the role

Haringey’s Adult Social Services ensures vulnerable residents who lack capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs, receive the support they need. This is done by working with involved professionals, family members, solicitors, court protection, Department for Work and Pensions, and other agencies.

We now require a Deputyship and Appointeeship Officer to work as part of the Income Maximisation & Personal Budget Finance Team in providing client financial affairs function for Adult Services.

The post holder will administer the Councils Deputyship Account and Department for Work and Pensions appointeeship income. You will be required to provide professional support service to the Adult Social Services Team and residents.

You will be required to work on your own complex caseload of appointeeships and deputyship cases.    

The role a varied, interesting and will present unique opportunities for someone with an interest in social care, as well as relevant experience and the necessary communication skills to help and protect vulnerable people and their families.


About you

Experience working with complex appointeeship and court of protection cases relating to property and financial affairs is vital, as is prior knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act. An understanding of the guidance in relation to safeguarding and the management of financial affairs of vulnerable adults is also required. You need the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively as this post requires contact with residents and a broad range of organisations. You must also have the   ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload to deliver challenging performance targets.

You need to be a numerate individual with strong communication and I.T. skills.
