Job Title: Senior Legal Assistant - Litigation
Grade: PO1 – PO3
This is an exciting time to join a committed in-house legal team, which is delivering an efficient and high-quality legal service to enable the Council to deliver its Borough Plan priorities. We are looking for confident, motivated people with strong communication and influencing skills to be part of our excellent and friendly legal team.
About the Role
This role is vital for the Council’s Borough Plan objectives of creating a growing economy which provides opportunities for all of our residents and supports our businesses to thrive and providing a safe, stable and affordable home for everyone, whatever their circumstances. You will be required to manage a caseload of varied civil litigation and enforcement matters mainly relating to debt recovery in respect of leaseholder service charges, major works and commercial rent. You will also defend miscellaneous civil claims brought against the Council including housing disrepair.
About You
We are looking for a senior legal assistant with a least 2 years’ experience of debt recovery and enforcement work. Some housing experience would be desirable. You will demonstrate knowledge of the law and practice in relation to landlord and tenant and debt recovery and have excellent advocacy skills. You must be able to manage a demanding caseload using your own initiative and with minimum supervision. You will be required to work collaboratively and flexibly
