This summer we are excited to be launching Mulberry Junction, the Council’s new resource centre for single people aged 18-50 affected by or at risk of homelessness in Haringey. The service will provide on-the-spot information and support around housing, health and wellbeing to enable people affected by homelessness to achieve their personal goals.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative new service designed in partnership with people affected by homelessness to deliver a service that reflects the diversity of Haringey.

 

At Haringey we recognise the valuable contribution offered by Peer Workers and are committed to increasing the opportunities for people with lived experience within all levels of our workforce.

 

The Peer Advisor will draw upon their personal experience to enhance the service offered at Mulberry Junction providing practical support to individuals and groups. Working alongside specialist housing and homelessness workers the Peer Advisor role will empower people to recognize and use strengths and skills to support them to use these skills at times of distress or difficulty.

 

 

About you

 

We want to hear from you if you have personal experience of accessing services linked to homelessness, mental health, substance use or criminal justice services.

 

  • You’ll feel resilient and able to use your experience to benefit others
  • You’ll feel confident talking to individuals and groups to identify their priorities
  • You’ll be committed to working in a solution focused way to support others achieve their goals
  • You will be willing to access development opportunities and work collaboratively with others

 

You’ll be interested in accessing flexible hours as this role is on a ‘As & When Required’ basis. Payment would be on submission of a monthly timesheet of hours worked


Closing Date: Monday 9th September 2019

Induction training, support and supervision, including additional specialist training delivered as part of the Mulberry Junction Service will be provided for the post holder .

 

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure check with the DBS will be undertaken. We recognise that people with lived experience of homelessness, mental health and addiction are more likely to come into contact with criminal justice services and encourage people to apply for the role even if they have previous convictions.
