Job Title: Environmental Health / Housing officer             

Grade: PO2          

About the role

This is an opportunity to become part of the residential environmental health team within Haringey’s Community Safety and Enforcement Service. Haringey is a diverse borough with a growing private rented sector which we are committed to ensuring provides good quality, safe, accessible accommodation for those who wish to live here. We recognise the need to work with landlords and agents and provide expertise, guidance and training to support landlords in exercising their responsibilities and achieving our common goal.

This role will involve being part of an expanding HMO licensing Team which is in the process of consulting on a borough wide Additional HMO Licensing scheme and a smaller Selective Licensing scheme within parts of the borough. The role requires a sound knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and its practice. Good experience in HHSRS inspections programme and its associated enforcement, knowledge of HMO licensing, its application and the law that supports this.

About you

We are looking for a confident, self motivated, enthusiastic team player. You must be organised, have good time management, the ability to monitor and manage a sometimes complex and varied workload and the confidence to work independently. Good communication and negotiating skills are essential as is the ability to use a variety of information technologies to evidence, record, monitor and communicate your daily activities.

Full driving license and the use of a vehicle for employment purposes is required for this role.
