 About the Service

You will be joining the dynamic Haringey public health team which enjoys all the benefits of being both embedded within the Council and having a special relationship with our NHS partners in the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Tackling health inequalities and promoting wellbeing is our core business. The team is very diverse having a mixture of public health consultants and strategists, health in all policy officers, domestic violence strategists and specialist children’s and adult commissioners, we also attract a lot of trainees who regularly bring in a fresh perspective. Because this post is about changing lifestyles it works across the team as well as with other Council departments and the CCG. The team’s excellence is recognised throughout London, offering lots of opportunities to network. Our main lifestyles service One You Haringey is thriving and so you can focus on being creative and innovative. This year is a tendering year so will be very busy and exciting.

 

About You

You will have worked either managing or commissioning lifestyles services for a minimum 2 years. Whilst previous experience as a commissioner is desirable, we actively consider service mangers who have experience of commissioning via being a senior provider. As well as being very passionate and knowledgeable about smoking cessation, weight management, exercise and health checks you will be highly skilled in monitoring, budget management, presenting, report writing and dealing with public health data. People skills are critical, you will be able to understand and work with key stake holders including providers, GPs and residents. You will be confident chairing and attending multiagency meetings. As a Public Health Officer, you will undertake ongoing professional development, being up to date and briefing the Council on the latest evidence.

You will be responsible for the day to day contract management of the services you commission, ensuring that they are delivering maximum benefit to residents. You will ignite passion into council and NHS colleagues to maximize their behavior change opportunities.
