We are seeking to appoint a Direct Payments Officer for a fixed term contract for up to 12 months within our Direct Payments Team based in the Brokerage Service. There is scope for the contract to be extended.  


We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic person to provide personalized support for Haringey residents to enable them to lead a more independent life in the community through the use of their direct payments. 


Key responsibilities for this role will be:


  • Approximately 50% of your time will be spent setting up, paying and monitoring how Direct Payments are used in Adult Social Care so that both customers and public funds are safeguarded. You will also liaise with customers, care management and other stakeholders to resolve issues and provide information and advice.
  • Approximately 50% of your time will be spent as a Personal Assistance (PA) Coordinator. 

You will be responsible for administering Haringey’s new Personal Assistant digital platform, enabling Direct Payment users and those interested in becoming a Personal Assistant to register on the platform. You will also be responsible for providing advice and support to those looking to employ a Personal Assistant e.g. advertising and recruiting a PA, undertaking DBS checks etc.   


Ideally, you will have experience of making direct payment accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities including people with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, learning disabilities, mental health as well as carers. The post holder will be a member of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with social workers, occupational Therapists and other appointed assessors. The role will involve home visits. 


We would like to hear from people who have knowledge of Direct Payments legislation, guidance and ability to undertake regular auditing of client accounts to ensure effective use of resources with excellent communication and people skills. However, people with right level of transferable skills would also be considered.
