£33,418 - £44,860

Haringey Adult Social Services is committed to achieving the highest standards of strengths-based practice so that our residents can live more independent and fulfilling lives.

The Council is currently reviewing the structure of Social Work within Mental Health and we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, forward-thinking practitioners to join us and be part of this exciting period for our service. You will be an AMHP or willing to train at the earliest opportunity.

Would you relish the opportunity to work in a service that is adapting to the challenging demands of our Borough and is open to fresh ideas and new ways of working?

We have several vacancies across our locality teams and services and are looking for qualified social workers who are passionate about working with people who have complex mental health needs and enjoy working in the interface of the wards and in the community to ensure we deliver the very highest quality integrated health and social care.

About the Role

All social workers are members of multi-disciplinary mental health teams based at St Ann’s Hospital and lead in applying the Care Act and providing social care expertise to enable and safeguard people in Haringey who are offered services by the mental health teams.

As well as working as a care coordinator to support people who may be vulnerable and have complex care needs, all mental health social workers are experts in championing the Council and local community resources and provide expert advice and guidance to others in their team on these.

Your responsibilities will include taking part in team referral, duty, attending zoning meetings, Council forums, and liaising with Council services like Housing, Brokerage, Reablement, and other Trust teams, services, and inpatient wards to support people’s health and social care needs and discharge planning.

If you are a trained Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) this will be recognised in terms of your team commitments and you will be released to take part in the AMHP duty service rota and attend the AMHP forum.

You will be confident in all aspects of social care legislation and the community resources people can use or be referred to in Haringey. In addition, you will be able to give other team members advice to ensure the Care Act assessments and Care Programme Approach reports reflect integrated health and social care, are well written in plain English, and embrace a strengths-based approach.

All Mental Health Social Workers must be willing to train as an AMHP and will be supported in this as part of their career development plan and appraisal.

Working in one of London’s liveliest and most culturally diverse boroughs, you will seek to maintain a strong partnership between London Borough of Haringey and Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust.

About You

You will be a qualified Social Worker ideally with previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and have a sound knowledge of legislation that underpins health and social care for service-users with mental health needs.

At whatever stage you are in your career you will be offered high quality supervision, a strong commitment to your professional and career development and a chance to make a real difference.

Informal discussions are encouraged, please contact us at: resourcinghub@haringey.gov.uk to arrange a conversation with one of the Team.
