About the Role

To manage the democratic services function, the council scrutiny function, the Mayoral service and the political assistant roles. This includes managing the Council’s executive and non-executive decision-making processes and the related interaction with members and senior officers.

About You

You will be an experienced and innovative Council Committee administrator capable of managing relations authoritatively with council members and senior staff. You will be capable of operating successfully under pressure and have excellent political sensitivity skills. You will have attention to detail and the skills to develop the Democratic Services and Scrutiny functions and other functions encompassed by this role within the current environment of budgetary restraints.

Degree or Degree level qualification or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to drive the service's e-democracy and e-government responsibilities and develop the service so that it becomes less paper based.
  • Ability to devise and manage a member training programme to ensure members are able to function properly in their roles.
