£39774 - £42,684

About the role:

Haringey is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country, affording our young people a great opportunity to build understanding across opinions, faiths, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. We also recognise the need to provide young people with the tools to question narratives and influencers they may meet, virtually or in person. This role will work closely with schools and colleges, developing resources to be delivered to pupils and students in order to equip them with the critical thinking skills that can help to safeguard against exploitation, as well as building awareness of vulnerabilities among teaching staff.

The role will work closely with our Strategic Lead for Communities and build effective engagement with our Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations, faith communities and other strategic partners across the borough. You will also work closely with services across the council such as Children’s Services and Community Safety ensuring that the organisation is meeting its Prevent Duty. You will also work closely with the Schools and Learning Service to develop the most appropriate training packages and lesson resources to ensure that schools are fulfilling their requirements under the Prevent Duty.

You will act as the point of contact for the Department for Education and the Home Office on Prevent delivery in education settings, provide expert advice on safeguarding concerns pertaining to radicalisation and extremism, and develop and deliver briefings and training sessions to staff from the education sector.

About you:

You will be skilled at building strong relationships, encouraging co-operation and acting as the link between multiple contacts, both within and outside the Council. You will have experience in teaching and be comfortable with giving presentations and delivering training and workshops. Excellent communication skills will allow you to interact effectively with a range of partners, both in writing and orally. You will have a good awareness of the government’s Prevent strategy, be politically aware and solve problems creatively whilst being informed by policy.
