About the Service
Our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, or ‘MASH’, is the first point of contact for all new contacts about children, young people and their families. We help vulnerable children who may benefit from early help services as well as children in need of social work support, protection and care.
The MASH is an innovative way of strengthening local safeguarding practice to enable local safeguarding partners to share information and work together. We work closely with a wide range of professionals from other statutory agencies, voluntary services, and family members, members of the public and children and young people themselves.
The MASH Team Manager plays a key role by co-ordinating and managing the daily activity in the MASH and maximising the contribution of partners to ensure that operational teams are equipped with the fullest picture when they make contact with children and families to follow up on safeguarding concerns.
The MASH Team Manager plays a crucial role in:
•listening and responding to staff and partners at all levels and from a range of different professional backgrounds
•interpreting information, data and intelligence
•communicating and giving feedback
•making informed and evidence based decisions
•creating a positive interface for all MASH practitioners and partners
•keeping pace in a fast moving multi-agency environment
•adhering to strict timescales
You will be a qualified social worker with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualifying experience, preferably in a similar setting. Whilst previous experience as a team manager is desirable, we actively consider social workers or senior practitioners looking to step up into a more senior role. You will be highly organised and able to deliver to deadlines, and able to work independently whilst maintaining a team and whole service focus. Your knowledge and understanding of complex child safeguarding, alongside your strong grasp of relevant legislation will be second to none. Thus, you will be confident chairing complex multiagency meetings such as core groups and strategy meetings where required. You will have evidence of ongoing professional development, as well as either experience or a sound understanding of social worker and/or student supervision, and budget management.
You will be responsible for the day to day management of the work allocated to your team, ensuring that this is completed to the highest standards and with the child’s welfare central to decision making. You will develop your team members by ensuring they receive regular, reflective case and personal supervision, and that service and corporate priorities are met. You will ensure that HR policy and procedure is adhered to, including robustly and effectively addressing any performance, capability, sickness absence or similar issues. In all cases, you will ensure that concise and accurate records of your management decision making and direction is evidenced.
Above all, you will be committed to helping the service manager and your fellow team managers to ensure the service provides a forward thinking, responsive service which meets the diverse needs of its service users, by contributing to service strategies, policy and procedures.
