Programme / Project Management

£53,544 - £56,682

About the role

Haringey is a diverse and vibrant borough. It is an exciting place to live and work and has much to offer those who make it their home. As with any other borough, it also has its challenges. In our Borough Plan we have set out our ambition that Haringey will be a borough where all residents have access to training and skills development opportunities and more people are supported into work. Haringey Council is committed to addressing this challenge to ensure all of our residents have the skills and confidence to access and progress meaningfully in work, competing effectively in the wider London labour market.

The Employment & Skills Manager will be at the forefront of leading this.

This is a newly created role, responsible for driving the employment and skills agenda in the borough. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners. It will lead the policy and strategic framework for ensuring the best outcomes for Haringey residents. It will also be a role that is operational facing, responsible for driving exceptional performance from commissioned employment programmes operating in the borough.

About you

This is a senior role, reporting directly to the Head of Service and with exposure to elected local politicians. In this role you will be the subject matter expert that others turn to for advice. That makes it a very exciting and empowering role! You may not currently be operating at this level, and that’s okay. But this may be the next exciting move in your career trajectory. You will be intelligent, creative and mature with a passion for improving lives through employment. You have to be able to work on your initiative and make things happen. Whilst possessing an amenable demeanour, you will not be afraid to challenge and probe, demanding the best outcomes for residents. You will already be operating in this sector and possess exceptional knowledge of the employment and skills landscapes, including policies at a regional and local level.

Closing date: Sunday 11th August 2019
