Public Health Officer, young people and adult prevention and early intervention programmes   


Grade/salary: PO3 £35,286 – £38,229 PER annum


We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of delivering public health behavior change programs for young people around sexual health and substance misuse. 

Haringey has very ambitious plans to empower our residents to give children and young people the best start in life with high quality education. This postholder will be a key player in turning around some challenging levels of sexual, mental and physical ill health.

The post-holder will be part of the Public Health team, primarily focused on sexual health and substance misuse but working across the team ensuring that behaviors change programmes are holistic. This will provide opportunities to matrix work with a variety of highly skilled public health specialists on topic areas including obesity, smoking, alcohol violence against women and girls and mental health. The postholder will also work very closely with children’s services and youth organisations. 

The post-holder will ideally be passionate and highly competent and experienced in working with young people to make positive health choices. The focus of this post is operationally training and working with communities and providers, there will also be opportunities to be involved in needs assessment, planning, tendering and the monitoring of services.
