About the Service

 

Keeping our streets and public spaces litter free and dealing quickly with incidence of fly tipping and rubbish dumping is at the heart of our Borough Plan priorities. For this reason, we have created a new Litter and Waste Enforcement Team to work alongside our existing ASB Enforcement Teams.

 

 

 

About the role

 

This is an exciting new role where you can really make a difference and be part of an energetic service. Our ASB and Enforcement teams have passion and commitment – they aim high to provide outstanding outcomes to the residents and businesses they serve

 

As the Team Leader of one of our teams you will manage 6 officers and together be responsible   for tackling environmental crime in the borough. As well as leading investigations into fly tipping and dumped waste, you and the team will be responsible for issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for offences such as littering and dog fouling. You will be responsible for coordinating tactical operations with the team, colleagues and partners. You will be required to undertake PACE interviews and attend court to give evidence, you will therefore need a good understanding of Environmental Crime legislation.

 

 

You will be required to wear a uniform, patrol the borough on foot and will be expected to work a shift pattern, including some weekends, evenings and bank holidays.

 

 

 

About you

 

We are looking for someone who has experience in an enforcement setting. You will need to communicate in a calm and assertive manner with the ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with people from all backgrounds. You must be able to show resilient character as some interactions with perpetrators can be confrontational. You will also require good communication skills as you will be working closely with members of the public, councillors and partner agencies. Good motivational skills matched with a passion to make a difference is essential.
