Do you want to develop your career and help improve the health of Londoners?

Our sector-leading, public health partnership is looking for a Partnership and Improvement Lead

About Us

The London Association of Directors of Public Health supports Directors of Public Health across 33 local authorities. We’ve built a vibrant, sector-leading partnership with high levels of trust and buy-in. We work closely with our partners, including London Councils, Public Health England, NHS England, and the Greater London Authority.

Our programme of peer-support, leadership development, service innovation and joint commissioning helps boroughs address some of the huge public health challenges facing London: air quality, child obesity, mental wellbeing, smoking and sexual health, to name a few.

We want to develop further our reputation as a high performing, trusted and credible professional network, and extend our influence and impact.

About the Role

This is an exciting public health role created to support the development of the public health offer in London local government. You will have a major input into complex cross-borough work on public health programmes and priorities, with a focus on supporting continual and sector-led improvement. This post will support the delivery of evidence-based local government, NHS and other services to people in the 33 London local authorities to promote better health and wellbeing and to reduce health inequalities.

You will take a lead on major, specific areas of work identified in the ADPH London collaborative work programme, including topic areas and/or lead responsibility for managing the development, implementation and evaluation of projects, programmes and other areas of work.

You will work with a range of partner organisations and make an important contribution to the development of work to reduce health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of the local population.

About You

The successful candidate will bring energy, drive and innovation to make a difference, working through the challenges to improve health outcomes for people.

You will have at least 3 years’ experience of working within local government, the NHS or other relevant setting.   You should have a keen interest in public health to develop a good understanding of the context of services which impact on health and health inequalities. A high-level qualification in Public Health is desirable but not essential.

Benefits

The post will provide significant personal development opportunities for those wanting to develop a career in public health.

We offer a local authority pension and a healthy work-life balance with flexible working hours, work from home days, generous annual leave, and an interest free travel loan.

We are committed to our employees and offer many opportunities for professional development. This includes training, shadowing and mentoring. You will be part of a wide professional network, across London and the UK.

Location

You will work flexibly across our two offices. The first is at London Councils in Central London (SE1), with easy access to London Bridge and London Waterloo. The second office is in Wood Green (N22), close to the Piccadilly line.
