These positions are required to deliver and expand on our specialised response to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and respond to a growing demand with regard to age assessments and response to Judicial Review.  

The Young Adults Service invites applications from experienced, child-focused social work qualified practitioners. 

We are a busy and supportive service working with looked after children and young people leaving care aged 16 to 25 years old and playing a vital role in ensuring positive futures. We also manage the referral and assessment for unaccompanied minors arriving in the borough aged 16 and over and ensure a robust response to age assessment requirements. 

The ideal candidate will need to be a resilient, experienced social worker who places children and young people and their welfare at the heart of practice. You will need to have experience of undertaking child and family assessments and age assessments related to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, and proven track record working with young people in care and care leavers. 

You will need to liaise effectively and efficiently with both internal and external partners to ensure that children and young people are safe. Therefore, your written and verbal communication would be second to none and you would be used to undertaking high quality, evidence-based assessments, analysis and the application of signs of safety.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
