We are looking for a talented and results driven public health professional to make a major impact in improving population health across London boroughs.

About the role

This is a unique Public Health Strategist role that provides excellent opportunities for developing a public health career and for making a difference on a regional scale. Working closely with Directors of Public Health, their teams and partners across London, the post-holder will develop, deliver and evaluate exciting and innovative public health projects. They will advise Directors of Public Health, for example on the implications of new policy developments, and work closely with partners to develop and implement regional strategies and programmes, representing the interests of local government public health. The role also involves designing and facilitating a range of improvement activities focused on constructively challenging performance, transforming services and improving outcomes.

We can offer the postholder the opportunity to:

  • work alongside senior leaders, with unrivalled opportunities for shadowing and personal development
  • influence how London partners respond to new challenges and opportunities
  • work across a variety of public health portfolios concurrently
  • work in a political and fast-paced environment
  • develop a wide professional network, with contacts in every London borough, across London, and nationally
  • be at the heart of improving population health across one of the world's greatest capital cities

You will join the successful and supportive ADPH London programme team, hosted by Haringey Council on behalf of all London boroughs. Candidates must be able to work flexibly across our two offices in Wood Green (N22) and London Bridge (SE1).

About you

We are looking for a public health professional with exceptional partnership and project management skills, who is comfortable working with senior officers and managing multiple agendas in a fast-paced and stimulating environment. The role would ideally suit an experienced local Public Health Strategist looking for exposure to regional partnerships, strategy and service improvement.

Our ideal candidate is energetic, passionate and ambitious for their own professional development. This role provides an excellent springboard into future positions, including the Public Health Speciality Training Scheme, working for other regional or national bodies, or taking on a senior public health role in any London borough.
