View Vacancy -- Senior Practitioner - Safeguarding & Support

Social Care & Welfare

The Safeguarding & Support Service invites applications from qualified and child-focused social workers at Senior Practitioner level. The service play a vital role in continuing the child’s journey when cases are transferred from the Assessment Service and where longer-term involvement is needed.

We are a busy and supportive service working with children and young people subject to child protection and children in need plans including Public Law Outline pre-proceedings work, as well as initiating care proceedings.

The ideal candidate will need to be a resilient and authoritative practitioner who places children and young people and their welfare at the heart of your practice. You’ll manage complex cases, planning intervention and support in a timely manner and, always, making sure that children and young people’s voices are heard, positively influence your practice, and recorded consistently. This will include liaising effectively and efficiently with both internal and external partners to ensure that children and young people are safe. Therefore, your written and verbal communication would be second to none and you would be used to providing high quality, evidence based assessments.

We’ll also expect you to support your Team Manager in developing the team, e.g., supporting and mentoring ASYE and less experienced colleagues, and helping to implement and drive a high performance culture.

In return, we will give you the time and support you need to make a difference. Alongside our generous learning and development offer, we offer a competitive salary package which includes a recruitment & retention payment and relocation offer (subject to eligibility, terms and conditions). We are actively working to reduce caseloads across the service and provide mobile working technology so that you spend more time with children and young people, doing what really matters.

In addition to meeting the minimum criteria outlined in the Person Specification, you will need to answer the two screening questions below as part of our shortlisting process.

Screening Questions:

  1. Why are you applying for a permanent Senior Practitioner post in Haringey at this point in your  career, and what skills and experience do you have to contribute to social work practice in our borough? (max 500 words)

  1. Please describe a piece of work you completed with a child or young person where you feel you made a positive difference to their long-term outcomes? (max 500 words)
