About the Role

The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Reforms introduced in September 2014 build on the best practice that has been established over the last 13 years since the last Code of Practice was published. They aim to join up services to ensure children and young people get the help they need at the right time and that they and their families are involved in decisions about their support.

Haringey Council is seeking to employ a Senior SEND EHC Caseworker. This post offered as a permanent post. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new role within the Special Educational Needs Team and make a difference to children and young people and their families.

The role is to, manage a caseload, and coordinate the new Education Health and Care needs assessments, which now replace statements of special educational needs. Caseworkers provide a single point of contact for families throughout the assessment process and work closely with other professionals. Lead on complex cases, and support EHC Caseworkers with complex cases. Caseworkers may also chair multi agency person centred planning meetings and develop Education Health and Care Plans with the children, young people and their families.

This is a rewarding role and an excellent career development opportunity. Training and support will be provided.

Haringey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all employees to share this commitment.

About you

You will need a sound working knowledge of SEN and disability and a background in education, health or social care. Commitment to person centred and personalised approaches are essential, as are excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to create high quality outcomes-based plans to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Closing Date: Monday 12th October 2020
