Job Title:               Head of Area Regeneration (Maternity cover)

Grade:                   HC2A

About the role

Haringey is a place of great opportunity, with enormous potential for growth - a growing economy, more and better housing and flourishing communities. We are part of one of the world’s greatest cities and benefit hugely from that – but more than this we believe with our potential for growth, we are the future of London.

This belief is backed by two major regeneration programmes; Wood Green and Tottenham and through investments from the Council, the Greater London Authority, Transport for London and private funding. With Tottenham alone, we are seeing the benefit of more than £1 billion of public and private investment to transform the area.

Our aim is to deliver at least 9,000 new jobs and 18,000 new homes, including 1000 new Council owned homes, alongside huge infrastructure improvements such as proposals for a number of new Crossrail 2 stations, which would unlock more regeneration opportunities across the borough.

We are now seeking an experienced regeneration professional to head up our regeneration programme in North Tottenham. An area which includes the Council’s largest and most ambitious estate renewal programmes, which will focus on improving the lives of existing Haringey residents and delivering new high quality social housing. The area also includes the £1 billion Tottenham Hotspur Development Project that is delivering a new 62,000 seat stadium, bringing the NFL to Tottenham, a hotel, museum and substantial new commercial space.

About you

The role requires someone with extensive experience of delivering complex development schemes, a proven track-record of working closely with communities and partners to deliver estate renewal and investment across multiple estates and managing area-based regeneration programmes, which include major housing, socio-economic and transport projects.

You will bring substantial knowledge and experience of housing, including renewal and investment, the London housing market, the housing policy landscape, the challenges facing local authorities in housing and the external funding sources available. As we are seeking innovative ways for the Council to deliver new high quality homes for both existing and new residents, you would have worked on direct delivery of new housing either at a Registered Provider, within a Local Authority or in the private sector.

As well as being responsible for the Council’s largest and most ambitious estate renewal programmes, you will also lead a number of key mixed-use development sites, public realm improvement projects and you will play a critical role in delivering strategic transport improvements across the area.

As such you should have excellent credentials in managing multiple projects, multi-million pound contracts with partners and multi-disciplinary teams. It is also critical that you are able to build and maintain excellent relationships at all levels, from residents through to investment partners and politicians so that a shared vision for North Tottenham can be delivered.
