Social Worker - Adoption

Social Workers required to work within the Adoption Team of the Children in Care service. Haringey Council has been through a journey of improvement over the past ten years, with continued aspirations to fulfil the first corporate priority of enabling every child the best start in life. The borough of Haringey is unique with diverse children and families, we are looking for social workers that are ready for a fresh challenge, with the ability to make a real difference to the residents of Haringey.

Haringey is a member of Adoption North London a collaboration of six local authority adoption agencies: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington. Working in partnership means we are able to reduce delays and offer a greater range of choice for children and adopters.

Experienced social work professionals required with 2 years post qualifying experience, preferably in a similar setting. The skill base required centres on excellent communication skills, specializing in the adoption process to be able to find good matches when it comes to connecting children with the right adoptive family. To carry a caseload of adoption and Special Guardianship cases, and family finding for children with a plan for adoption or special guardianship. Responsibilities will include recruitment, training, development, support, assessment and review of prospective adopters, post adoption support and special guardianship assessments and support. The structure of the adoption service includes one team manager, one senior practitioners and six social workers managed by the fostering and adoption service manager.

The retention payments are paid to experienced qualified social workers and are subject to conditions.
